Life is a Journey
Like most therapists there was a catalyst that moved me towards complementary health care. For me it was a dream that began the ball rolling. I've always dreamt and see dreams as an important part of my life. In this particular dream I was shown how to Heal. In the dream I was working on my Mum, so I called her the next day to arrange to practise what I had been shown. From that moment I wanted to learn more so attended various classes on similar subjects....I'd have been about 20 at the time. By age 21 my Mum had passed away and then I was made redundant. I did find work but from there I made the decision to commit to professional training. |
Initially I trained in Clinical Holistic Aromatherapy at the Northern School of Aromatherapy, an ISPA (IFPA) accredited school. I hadn't realised what I'd taken on as Clinical Aromatherapy is far different to Aromatherapy as known to many today. I passed theoretical examinations in anatomy, physiology, aromatherapy with botany and chemistry, along with a practical examination in massage. Gaining qualifications in Clinical Holistic Aromatherapy, Therapeutic Massage and A&P.
I interrupted my Aromatherapy studies briefly to take 1st degree Reiki, I confess that I wanted to explore how it differed from Healing! I took 2nd degree soon after and then completed to Reiki Master Teacher. Having practised Reiki for some time I am now sure that its origins are not as the healing brought to me directly. Therefore it is not a modality I would now offer. Healing is available and provides everything sought by those interested in Reiki and more!
It was important to me to include Healing within my practice and was fortunate enough to receive a referral to the World Federation of Healing. I completed their prospectus which was based on natural approaches to healing and received a full award of membership.
Following completion of Clinical Aromatherapy studies and feeling focused after studying a science! I moved toward one of my earlier interests and went on to gain a qualification in Crystal Healing Therapy, a study that included crystallography and geology. I Studied a two year diploma course with the SVA, based at the Natural Healing Centre in Goole. I initially worked licentiate after completing practical examination and thesis, then continued to complete two years of study.
Initially whilst training I worked for The British Red Cross at a holiday centre in Harrogate where I was able to support groups with various techniques as I studied (alongside my main duties). Sadly the centre closed and I joined the NHS in a supportive role within the community, providing immediate support for hospital discharge, Intermediate care, continuing care for ongoing conditions and palliative care. These experiences aligned me perfectly for an emerging role of Complementary Therapist at my local Hospice where I worked with other Health Professionals in specialist palliative care for over 12 years. I have been privileged to support numerous individuals and families on their journey with life limiting conditions and at end of life.
I won the Marguerite Maury, AC National Aromatherapist of the year award for contributions to complementary therapy in specialist palliative care, which I received in London 25th October 2004. I also appeared on Sky Living ‘Star Treatment’ and have featured in local and regional press on numerous occasions.
I wanted to expand my skill base and completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Kore Therapy (formerly OBB) then continued my studies to complete a Post Graduate Diploma in Acupuncture at The College of OBB, Lytham St Annes, endorsed by the Academy of Oriental Medicine (AOM). I completed further examinations in anatomy and physiology, Chinese medical theory and practical application. I am a registrant of the British Acupuncture Federation/ Acupuncture Regulatory Authority and Member of the Acupuncture Association.
I travelled to China with the AOM to gain clinical experience in Hospitals in Beijing and Tianjin and have completed numerous courses in Chiang Mai Thailand, including Nerve touch Thai massage, Thai foot massage and Thai herb packs.
As I worked in a Medical environment throughout my study I found that I applied my acupuncture skills in a Western manner and this has moulded how I now work. I have expanded my studies in Acupuncture, advancing my skills in modern researched techniques and I am experiencing phenomenal success with Acupuncture Microsystems including Auricular and Battlefield. I feel privileged to have trained In Battlefield Acupuncture and Advanced Battlefield Acupuncture with Professor John Howard whilst visiting the UK from the USA.
I have now completed Scar Therapy Practitioner training with Restore Scar Therapy and acquired the additional skills in this specialist area to enhance my existing practice.
I am a fully qualified Teacher - Cert Ed having studied with the University of Huddersfield via Wakefield College. I have written and delivered numerous courses around the country for private institutions, charities and the NHS. I currently provide training to small groups and individuals in a variety of supportive subjects.
My journey has taken many twists and turns along the way not only in business location, from Featherstone, to Hemsworth, to Moorthorpe, to Ackworth and now Ackton. but also in the therapies I provide. Some therapies have been removed whilst others have been refined.
The sudden passing of my husband in January 2018 has led me to reflect on life...its meaning and its journey. I am fortunate and deeply grateful that I have led a full life with many experiences to draw on. I recognise I am still learning, as we all are! But hope my experiences and subsequent coping strategies can be put to good use in the support of others.
2020/2022 was challenging for all of us and that journey has not reached completion. I took time during the period to examine myself and make adjustments to my practises.
2022/2024 In 2020 I began sharing dreams, visions and observations, some via social media and others via Zoom. Guided to speak, not knowing what I should speak about and certainly not wanting a 'following' of any sort!
In 2022 someone in the US started commenting on my dreams, saying that my dreams were of scripture and shared the corresponding scripture with me! This has lead to many conversations, deeper study of scripture and hence more dreams!
Heading toward the end of 2023 a dear friend and colleague invited me to his Church. I was pleased to attend and accompanied him and other family members on Christmas Eve. Now, I have travelled to many locations and many countries visiting temples, monuments and spiritual places always seeking one thing...I always expected there to be a presence, something that would connect deeply with me, that knew me and that I knew. I have even climbed a mountain (having felt drawn to do so) visiting a temple at the top being sure I would find what I sought there, but in all of these places there was nothing.
On Christmas Eve I walked into Bethel Community Church in Royston, Barnsley, South Yorkshire and as I entered the main Church I found what I had been seeking, I was greeted by the Holy Spirit....wow, what a moment! I had to control myself from bursting into tears!
On Palm Sunday 2024 I was baptised! Read more about my baptism here: elementalhealth.net/blog/baptism-march-24th-2024
So This is the next part of my journey, one I confess I never anticipated. But we all have a place, this I know for sure. A place where we meet our creator and gain clarity of what life is all about. So as I adapt and grow I hope I am worthy of bringing truth forward into this work and new work that is to come.
I truly believe I am here in service, something I hope is reflected in the services I provide for you. Beyond the time you book with me I will always give more as it is needed. I'm sure many will affirm this as their one hour session has become 2 hours or more.
So thankyou for reading my Journey to this point, I hope it might inspire you to share yours!

Inspired Poems
Eternal me is a poem I wrote following a 3 day experience where I was being pulled from myself. Eventually I felt like I popped out of my physical body and I believe I returned to God.
It was the most blissful experience as I experienced being in Gods light completely free of human restrictions. As I basked in the experience I was shown just how special it is to be in flesh and how loved we truly are. I returned with a whole new sense of gratitude for the blessing of being human and cherish this experience far greater than I ever did. |
